Agency 8’s President, Rebecca Nutt, volunteers for SHRM as the Texas District Director.

SHRM (Society of Human Resource Management)  is the world’s largest professional society dedicated to serving human resources professionals.  SHRM is made up of just under 300,000 HR Professionals and 22,633 are here in Texas!  We are the voice of HR at the State and National levels. Rebecca directly works with seven (7) chapters across this great state to improve HR education, promote certification, and drive legislative initiatives impacting employers and employees. When Congress or state legislatures are developing workplace policy, HR’s voice needs to be heard.

In November 2019, Rebecca went to Washington DC to meet with Senators Ted Cruz, John Cornyn, and House of Representative member Brian Babin. We discussed keeping the expiring WOTC program and increasing more programs to get the historically underemployed back to work. We were able to discuss the skills gap, the critical impact of culture, and second chances for previously incarcerated citizens deserving of a well-paying job.  Our message was heard well received.

In January 2020, Rebecca met in Austin with chapter Presidents from Victoria, Corpus Christi, Houston, Woodlands, Temple, Rio Valley and Dallas.  We set out to create the 2020 perfect vision for HR education programs.  Next, she is off to El Paso in the Spring and back to Washington in November.
